Our Ski Areas

The following four ski areas are all covered under the ‘Lungo’ ski pass, which also covers some smaller areas such as our own lift here in Lessach, however there are several other passes available which can help reduce the cost, especially for beginners, or for non-skiers who want to use the lifts.  There are also special ‘SkiPlus’ discounted weeks in January and March, with discounts available on passes, ski lessons, winter activities and on drink and food at the slope side restaurants. There is also a special priced 65 plus senior’s week in January. Simply contact us and we can discuss and advise on what pass might be best for yourself and members of your party.

Fanningberg (1500m to 2100m)

Runs – 13km blue, 7km red, 10km black.

This is a great resort for all abilities and is particularly suitable for beginners and children, who with the excellent tuition provided, are quickly skiing and moved off the beginner area to the long blue slopes from the top of the mountain. Mixed ability groups can select blue, red or black runs from the top of the main chair lift which all lead back to one central point, making it easy to meet up. Most of the runs are long, wide and tree lined and for the more adventurous there is a plenty of safe off-piste available and fun routes through the trees. There is also the opportunity of some great tobogganing (6.5km!) from the top at the end of the day.

Aineck-Katschberg (1044m to 2220m)

Runs – 10km blue, 49km red, 10km black

The Aineck mountain offers you many long runs including one of the longest intermediate runs in Austria, the ‘A1’, measuring 6km top to bottom. From the top of the Aineck you can ski over the other side and all the way down to the resort of Katschberg on a lovely red/blue run or take the challenging black ‘Direttissima’ with a gradient ranging from 60-100% (At the steepest part approx. 45 degrees). Katschberg provides further slopes with a variety of skiing for all levels.

Grosseck Speiereck (1100m to 2400m)

Runs – 26km blue, 17km red, 7km black

Gondolas from two sides of the mountain take you up to a ‘bowl’ of runs and provide lovely long runs back to the base of each gondola. In addition to the ski slopes there is a 3km hiking path from the top of one Gondola to the other. There is also a toboggan and bike track (bikes with thick snow wheels can be hired).

Obertauern (1630m – 2313m)

Runs – 61km blue, 35km red, 4km black

Open November to May, Obertauern is known as ‘Austria’s Snow Bowl’ due to its excellent snow record. Obertauern is a large commercial resort providing a wide variety of slopes for all abilities but is obviously a lot busier especially in school holiday time. It is the place the Beatles filmed ‘Help’ in 1965 and it has plenty of après ski bars
